Burning your own DVD-Rs (Digital Video Discs)
Apple is spearheading the burning of DVD-videos on your Mac, by packaging SuperDrive hardware and iDVD software on the new G4s. The DVD-R for General format records 4.7 GigaBytes of copy-protected MPEG-2 video and audio on $10 blanks. The DVD-R external drives based on the Pioneer mechanism claim to write the 4.7 Gigs in 30 minutes at 2X.
