connecting 2 macs

 

How to hook up 2 power macs via Ethernet
Or creating a point to point mac network with 2 power macs
     
  1. Connect the Ethernet cable to each mac's ethernet connector  
     
 

2. Go to File Sharing (Partage de Fichiers) control panel


3. Click on Start/Stop (Réglages) tab
Start file sharing and program linking on each mac

 
     
 

4. Click on Users & Groups tab and create a new user and password on each mac

5. Close File Sharing control panel

 
     
 

6. Open TCP/IP control panel


7. Duplicate a new configuration (apple K) and call it "local ethernet" or something else


8. Select

Connect via Ethernet

Configure Using BootPServer

9. Close and save TCP/IP configuration

 
     
 

10. Open AppleTalk control panel


11. Select

Connect via Ethernet


12. click on Options to insure that Appletalk is on

13. Close and save AppleTalk

 
     
 

Open Chooser (Selecteur)


15. Click on Appleshare icon


16. Click on Server Name in right-hand window


17. Click OK

 
     
 

18. An Appleshare window comes up. Log in with the password attributed on the other mac in step 4


19. Click on Connect

 
     
 

20. A new AppleShare window comes up asking you to select a drive


21. Select a drive and Click OK

 

22. You’re in ! A network drive icon should come up on your desktop

23. Use this icon like your own hard disk to access and copy files
